West Falmouth Village 1800s Economy Part 2

Join us at West Falmouth Library Saturday, February 23rd 10:30-11:30am for Part two of our series on the economy of West Falmouth Village in the 1800s. Free. The late 1800s was a time of transition for West Falmouth families. Industries collapsed and new ones took root. Whalers returned as farmers and children left for the western frontier. Join us for a talk, slide show and exhibit on whaling, shipbuilding, commerce, trades, manufacturing, itinerant merchants, teachers, and preachers, land speculators and emerging tourist industries. This project was made possible in part with grant funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services and administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. The library is located at 575 West Falmouth Highway.
